Serving the Community
We live here...we give here. Montgomery is our home. Our club is very proud to be an active part of the River Region Community. Together, we identify the needs of their community and in that spirit, our club labors in its efforts to provide for others. Members of the Sunrise Rotary Club are continuously putting back into the communty. You may find us at a local school, cleaning a cemetary or creating a dog park. We make a difference for Montgomery through our community efforts.
Fighting Polio Globally
Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a paralyzing and potentially deadly infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of 5. The virus spreads from person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can then attack the nervous system.
Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years. Our goal of ridding the world of this disease is closer than ever and we've reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.
About our Club
First Chartered April 15, 1995, our club was, at that time, the newest and smallest of three clubs in the Montgomery area. We are now one of four clubs in the Montgomery area, and while we are still one of the smallest, we're proud to say we've perhaps got the biggest Rotary footprint! Three of our club members have served the Rotary District 6880 as District Governor and we have multiple members who serve the District as Assistant Governors, Committee Chairs, etc. We're proud to be known as "The Fun Club" in Montgomery and across the District. We believe in serving our community, but we believe we should be having fun doing it!
We meet every Friday Morning at 7:00 am for breakfast at the Student Commons Center on the campus of Faulkner University, at 5345 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery.
